This is Scratchy, a new addition to our family. He was found a few weeks ago by some nice people living in Oyster Pond, but they can't keep him. We weren't sure how Daisy would do with a new dog as she tends to be bossy, but these two became best friends in the first hour. Kahlua is thrilled as Daisy no longer follows her around and nips at her legs. Its kind of amazing to have two playful dogs around - they run around constantly and then collapse into sleep for an hour or two.
All the dogs we've adopted in the past were female, and adults - around 5 or 6 by the time they came to live with us. Daisy was about a year old. The vet says Scratchy is about 8 months old, so basically he is our first puppy and first male dog.

KEITH! I have nothing smarter to say than KEITH!!!!!
So, new dogs can entice you guys into a visit? Is this all it takes? Right on.
He's lovely! Super-adorable.
Thanks Krista! We are having fun with him. He is an intrepid youngster - he got stung the other day by something when he stuck his nose somewhere he shouldn't have and half his face swelled up. I have 4000 pictures of him, I'll be posting more when I can pick through for the good ones (dogs and cows, favorite photo subjects... oh well)
very playful dogs
hi gerald, thanks for stopping by my blog - I looked at the ones under your profile, what fun! I've been thinking of starting a SXM daily photo feature, but I am kind of lazy. We'll see! Anyway, thanks for commenting!
Great dogs Jess! SXM needs more people like you.
hey rick! Are you back from St. Maarten?
There are so many dogs here I wish we could adopt. 3 is my limit though, otherwise insanity ensues.
I met a tourist couple who picked up a dog they want to bring home, but they could not fly him back as it is too hot, and it will probably be too hot until mid October! They are trying to find someone to take care of him til then, but it is not easy.
Yes, Jess, unfortunately I'm back home and have been since July 4. The good news (for me), is that we're coming back at the end of September for another week. As far as flying dogs, I think American will take them (and maybe others). They have a climate controlled hold. The only problem is how long they'd sit on the tarmac in the heat.
Yeah, I guess American has a rule that they will not fly pets unless it is lower than 85 degrees. If we could get a run of cloudy days they may be able to pull it off ...
