Remember this picture from this post?

Looks like my neighbors were doing worse things than annoying the rest of us with their over-sized car.

  2. Hi!Jess, Do you know if the police auction off the cars that are confiscated? BMW is a pretty nice car to drive.

  3. Hmmmm I don't know if they get auctioned off. I am sure they have some kind of program like that as I have seen other things auctioned off, but I doubt the cars will make it to the auction block, I betcha someone has their eye on those.

I actually wonder about their property - they are building something in Red Pond on that huge lot to the side of Aquarius - what happens with that now? I'd scrape together my pocket money to go and buy that at auction that is for sure. Then I would put a playground and perhaps a water balloon launching station there. :)

I am amazed that they actually got caught.

Since I moved here I have known or known of a number of people who "left the island quickly" - abandoning property and businesses and even their dogs.

There is a house down the road from me that was auctioned off when an American couple took off - they had a business in Simpson Bay and a nice house - I don't know why they left, maybe unpaid bills.

I don't know if any of you remember Maria's Deli - at one time a terrific spot for Italian type sandwiches etc, and then she made it into a bagel place. She did the same type of thing - the bank loan she left unpaid behind her left her co-signer in a nasty spot.

Then there was the American guy living here under a false name who turned out to be a priest on the run - I do not kid - who was recognized on the island after living here for 6 or 8 years (there was a warrant out for his arrest) - he took off for parts unknown though I've heard he was seen in Martinique...

    Ah memories...

  4. So Jess, as you are looking from above in Red Pond, the lot where they are building on the left of Aquarius is the one you are talking about? My wife and I saw that and thought the Constellation was starting to build. Maybe if it goes to auction, you can bid on it! Beats the 9 mil you where going to spend on the Westin Valley. I hate to admit it, but I went in the Westin and it's nice inside. The pool is nice too. But I think the $37 I paid for 4 drinks was a tad high. It's still ugly from above though! BTW, I'm writing this from a wireless connection at a condo, and all of the headers on your page are in Dutch. Kind of weird. All the comments are in English though.

  5. Hey Rick - if you are facing the ocean, the lot I mentioned is to the left of Aquarius, yes. It was cleared a long long time ago and then nothing else happened there til recently.

So I hope you are having a fun time on SXM, even if some of it is at the Westin :)

I know it's nice in there, believe me I feel the appeal of glossy Americanized amenities. I just wish it was... oh jeez it's too early for me to start ranting.

The Dutch headings are because Blogger likes to change the language shown on your computer ccording to where your physical IP address is... very irritating. I think each individual computer user has to change their own settings.

    Have a great time!

  8. Yikes! Missed that post as I was on vacation. Hopefully your next neighbors will be less "interesting". Makes me wonder what all my (Italian) neighbors are up to :-)
